Description

Membrane — Advanced Water‑Repellent Treatment for Porous Textiles

Product overview

Membrane is a high‑performance, breathable water‑repellent treatment engineered for porous textiles. It chemically modifies fabric fibres to create a durable, low‑surface‑energy barrier that repels liquid water and aqueous contaminants while preserving the material’s natural breathability, hand‑feel and flexibility. Formulated for versatile use, Membrane is suitable for automotive carpets, convertible soft‑tops, outdoor fabrics and most woven textile substrates when used as directed.

Key performance attributes

– Durable hydrophobic protection that prevents absorption of water and aqueous stains

– Preserves breathability and moisture vapour transmission — avoids sealed or plasticised feel

– Maintains fabric flexibility and tactile characteristics; does not stiffen correctly treated textiles

– Suitable for a broad range of porous substrates including carpets, canvas, nylon and polyester blends

– Ready‑to‑use formulation for straightforward application; can be applied in multiple light coats for extended longevity

Recommended application procedure

1. Surface preparation: Clean the substrate thoroughly and allow it to dry completely. Membrane must be applied to a clean, dry surface for reliable penetration and bonding.

2. Application environment: Work in a well‑ventilated area, out of direct sunlight and away from high heat. Protect adjacent non‑textile surfaces (plastic trim, glass, painted panels) from overspray.

3. Spray technique: Hold the can or sprayer approximately 20–30 cm from the surface and apply evenly in overlapping passes to achieve uniform coverage. Avoid heavy pooling — a fine, even mist is preferred.

4. Multiple coats: For enhanced durability, apply 2–3 light coats, allowing each coat to become touch‑dry before applying the next. Maintain the same spray distance and even coverage for each pass.

5. Drying and curing: Membrane will be touch‑dry within a few hours depending on temperature and humidity. Full cure and maximum repellency are achieved after 24 hours under normal conditions. Avoid exposure to water during the cure period.

6. Post‑application cleanup: Immediately remove any overspray from adjacent non‑textile surfaces using an appropriate cleaner before the product cures.

Performance notes

– Longevity of the treatment depends on fabric type, exposure, abrasion and cleaning methods. Re‑treat periodically as part of normal maintenance for sustained repellency.

– Always test for compatibility and visual effect in an inconspicuous area prior to full application, particularly on dyed or specialty fabrics.

Health, safety and handling

– Hazardous if swallowed and may cause aspiration if it enters the airways.

– May cause allergic skin reactions.

– Causes serious eye irritation.

– May cause drowsiness and dizziness.

– Use appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection) and work in a well‑ventilated area. Avoid inhalation of spray mist. In case of contact or if adverse symptoms occur, seek medical advice and consult the Safety Data Sheet for first‑aid measures, storage and disposal instructions.

Packaging and storage

– Store upright in a cool, dry place away from heat and ignition sources. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children.
