Description

Extinction — Concentrated Citrus Pre‑Wash Degreaser

Product overview

– Extinction is a highly concentrated, citrus‑infused pre‑wash degreaser formulated to rapidly break down organic contamination, grease and road film from automotive bodywork and engine bays. When used at recommended dilutions it is gentle on painted surfaces and exterior trim, yet powerful enough to dissolve insect remains, traffic film, oil deposits and heavy grime. For extremely soiled areas or industrial deposits, Extinction may be used undiluted for intensified cleaning action.

Performance characteristics

– Powerful citrus solvents and surfactants for rapid emulsification and lift of organic soils.

– Concentrated formula allows flexible dilution ratios for light maintenance through heavy‑duty decontamination.

– Biodegradable surfactants (where applicable) and rapid rinsing for efficient workflow.

Recommended dilutions

– Light maintenance cleaning: 1:10 (product:water).

– General pre‑wash / regular contamination: 1:5

– Heavy contamination / insects / grease: 1:1

– Undiluted: Only for very heavy, localized contamination and when safe for the substrate.

Surface preparation and compatibility

– Test first: Perform a small patch test on an inconspicuous area before widespread use, especially on aged plastics, rubber, vinyl, aftermarket coatings or matte finishes.

– Do not apply to hot surfaces or in direct sunlight — allow panels and engine components to cool; excessive heat can increase evaporation and may reduce effectiveness or damage finishes.

– Avoid prolonged contact with exposed rubber or sensitive plastics; rinse promptly.

Application instructions

1. Pre‑rinse: Rinse the vehicle to remove loose dirt and grit.

2. Apply: Spray or brush Extinction onto the target area. For whole‑vehicle pre‑washes, apply panel by panel to keep product wet. Use a foamer where appropriate for improved dwell and coverage.

3. Dwell time: Allow the product to work for several minutes (typically 2–5 minutes). Do not allow the product to dry on the surface. For heavy deposits, extend dwell time slightly while monitoring to ensure no adverse effects.

4. Agitation (optional): For stubborn deposits, agitate gently with a soft brush or detailing mitt.

5. Rinse: Rinse thoroughly with low‑pressure or high‑pressure water (pressure washer preferred) to remove emulsified soils and residue. Ensure all product is removed from crevices and engine bays.

6. Repeat: For severely contaminated areas, repeat application or increase concentration as needed.

Engine bay usage

– Use lower spray pressure and avoid directly soaking sensitive electrical connectors; mask or cover exposed electronics where possible. After application and rinsing, allow the engine bay to dry before starting the vehicle.

Safety and personal protective equipment

– Use in a well‑ventilated area. Wear chemical‑resistant gloves and eye protection when handling concentrated product. Avoid inhalation of sprays and prolonged skin contact.

– Keep away from open flames and ignition sources; citrus solvents may be flammable in concentrated form. Consult the Safety Data Sheet for full hazard and first‑aid information.

Storage and disposal

– Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep container sealed when not in use and out of reach of children. Dispose of rinse water and used solutions in line with local regulations.

Troubleshooting and tips

– White residues or streaking after drying: usually indicates insufficient rinsing — re‑rinse the affected area thoroughly.

– Reduced effectiveness: check dilution, water hardness and application method; a foamer can improve coverage and dwell.

– Use a neutraliser or panel wipe prior to polishing or coating to ensure an oil‑free substrate.

Note: Always follow vehicle manufacturer guidance and the product label for any specific limitations or additional instructions.
